Johnston Police Recover Stolen Chalices, Suspect Still At Large

Police have recovered the chalices stolen from Saint Rocco's Church last week, but the theft suspect remains at large.

JOHNSTON, RI — Police have recovered the four chalices that were stolen from Saint Rocco's Church last week, but the theft suspect remains at large. David Ferrara, 63, of Providence, is considered a fugitive in connection with Tuesday's theft.

According to police, three of the recovered chalices were found in pre-theft condition, but the fourth chalice was damaged and "pieced out."

Police identified Ferrara as a suspect after releasing surveillance photos from the theft, asking for the public's help in identifying the man. Police say that Ferrara's last known address is on Westminster Street in Providence, though he also is known to frequent Pawtucket.
