Johnston: 'Sell Drugz' Rapper Montana Millz Sentenced

Rapper Montana Millz, whose legal name is Michael Persaud, will do 36 months in federal prison for drug trafficking.

JOHNSTON, RI – Michael Persaud, better known as rapper “Montana Millz,” is going to federal prison, the U.S Attorney's office said Wednesday. Persaud, 30, was sentenced Tuesday in Providence federal court where the judge gave him 36 months for trafficking heroin and fentanyl. He also awaits sentencing in Lebanon County, Penn., where he was convicted last summer of 16 heroin trafficking, conspiracy and other drug trafficking related charges.

In the Rhode Island case, Persaud pleaded guilty Oct. 23, 2017, to five counts of distribution of fentanyl, and one count each of possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl and distribution of heroin.

The Johnston, R.I., rapper — whose songs include “Sell Drugsz,” “Feds Watching” and “All White" — sold fentanyl and heroin to an East Providence undercover detective. Some of the drugs were hidden in a home belonging to the mother of one of his children. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Ly T. Chin and Ronald R. Gendron.
