JOHNSTON, RI — A Johnston woman hit big on a scratch ticket, Rhode Island Lottery officials said Wednesday.

The Johnston woman won $10,000 after purchasing a "Spectacular Riches" instant ticket. Lottery officials said she bought the winning ticket from a vending machine at the Market Basket at 1300 Hartford Ave. in Johnston.

"She brought the ticket up to the counter to check what she won and was shocked when they told her she had to claim her prize at the lottery," a Rhode Island Lottery spokesperson said. "She plans to use the money to go on a cruise and pay bills."
