JPD to Promote, Appoint Officers

The Johnston Police Department has scheduled a ceremony for Friday morning at 9 am at Johnston Municipal Court.

 

Four officers are due for promotion, and a fifth for appointment to probationary patrolman, at a ceremony scheduled by the Johnston Police Department for Friday morning.

Deputy Chief David DeCesare announced the following promotions:

  • Capt. Raymond Skomin to Major;
  • Lt. Joseph Razza to Captain;
  • Sgt. Seth Crosby to Lieutenant; and
  • Ptlm. Dana Gousie to Sergeant.

Skomin, a 23-year veteran of the JPD, has been serving as the department's operations and training division commander since his .

In addition, the department will appoint Richard J. Varan, a 20-year veteran of the North Providence Police Department who retired at the rank of Lieutenant, to the rank of probationary patrolman, DeCesare explained in a press release.

The ceremony is scheduled for 9 am at the Johnston Municipal Court.
