More Than $21k Raised For Johnston Firefighter
In just one day, the community rallied to help the family of a Johnston firefighter who lost everything in a house fire.

GLOCESTER, RI - Just one day after losing everything in a tragic house fire, more than $21,000 has been raised for the family of a Johnston firefighter whose Glocester house burned down Wednesday night. The Johnston Fire Department posted on Facebook Thursday afternoon that clothing donations were no longer needed because so many people had come forward to help. Instead, those still interested in helping the family can drop off gift cards to stores like Walmart, Target, grocery stores and pharmacies.
"We are extremely grateful for the tremendous support for our brother and his family," the department said. "We have received numerous donations of clothing and amenities."
Cash or checks written out to Johnston Firefighters Charitable Fund or Adam Barros can also be dropped off at the fire station located at 1520 Atwood Ave. They can also be mailed to:

A GoFundMe page set up for the family more than doubled its $10,000 goal in one day, raising more than $21,600 as of Friday morning.
The page is filled with messages of support for the family.
"You are such an amazing and strong family!!! This event has brought such heartache and trauma but, I also know you all will guide one another to get back on your feet and with the help of so many others who are supporting you along the way," Angelica D'Arezzo wrote. "I'm sending love and positive thoughts to you all! Please reach out to me if you need anything."
The Red Cross is assisting the family as well.
