R.I. Has One of the Best Work Environments for Teachers, Report Says

But there's a lack of job opportunities, according to the personal finance network WalletHub.

Rhode Island has one of the best work environments for teachers, according to a new report.

The personal finance network WalletHub ranked each state in its “Best and Worst States for Teachers” list, which was released ahead of World Teachers Day Oct. 5.

Though Rhode Island was commended for teachers’ work environment, the report found there’s a lack of job opportunities for teachers. Rhode Island was ranked No. 21 overall in the report.

The teaching field in Rhode Island and other states also suffers from a high turnover rate. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, about 20 percent of new teachers leave their job within a year and about half leave within five years.
