RI's 2nd Market Basket Coming To Johnston

Beginning Friday, customers can go to the new grocery store in Johnston at 1300 Hartford Ave., across from the town's senior center.

JOHNSTON, RI — Market Basket will open its second Rhode Island store this week, the company said.

Beginning Friday, customers can go to the new grocery store in Johnston at 1300 Hartford Ave., across from the town's senior center.

The Massachusetts-based grocery store chain said the new store will include Market’s Kitchen and Café, the Market Basket Butcher Block, Niji Sushi and more than 50,000 food items. Product offerings include organic, vegan and plant-based options. The store will also carry a variety of products from Rhode Island.

Market Baskets are also known for their value. As reported in Consumers' Checkbook, a family that spends $150 on groceries can save $1,400 annually at Market Basket when compared to other supermarkets.

The chain was originally going to open its first store in the state in Johnston, but elected to open one in Warwick this past May.
