State Police Report Warrant Arrest

Rhode Island State Police reported the arrest of a Johnston woman on an active arrest warrant on July 12 — the same day she was due in court to answer for a second count of driving with a suspended license.

Troopers stopped Carla Desanto, age 34, of 1 Delmont St., while she was driving on Terrace Avenue in Providence at about 2:15 pm Thursday, according to the RI State Police website.

Online court records show that a warrant had been issued for her arrest on July 6 after she failed to appear for a payment review hearing scheduled for that date in Third District Court. Desanto pleaded no contest on Feb. 7 to a charge of driving with a suspended license brought by Smithfield Police.

Warwick Police filed a new charge of driving with a suspended license on July 12 — the same day that the state trooper pulled her over in Providence.

Desanto appeared in Third District Court on the Smithfield charge this morning and paid the outstanding fines and court costs, according to online records. She is due for arraignment on the Warwick charge on July 17.
