Teacher Arrested after Investigation into School Fund Usage

Greg Russo had been put on leave by the school and police began an investigation into possible school fund use last month.

The Johnston teacher under investigation for alleged misuse of school funds has been arrested by Johnston police.

Greg Russo, a teacher at Johnston High School, was arrested this morning according to police. He’s facing charges of forgery, counterfeiting and embezzlement, according to WPRI, which first broke the story about the investigation last month.

School officials aren’t commenting about the case.

Russo, 57, served as a faculty adviser and head of the science department at the school.

He was arraigned in court on Friday and released on $20,000 personal recognizance.
