MIDDLETOWN, RI—A motorcyclist was injured while drag racing on Sunday of the Memorial Day weekend, Middletown police allege. Kyle Oman, 19, of Portsmouth, was arrested at 2:30 p.m. near Wyatt Square on East Main Road after he fell off his bike and landed in bushes under the window at Alagria.
According to the police narrative, an officer was at the Town Hall when a small silver car and a motorcycle sped past going north on East Main Road. He had heard the engines "throttling up," estimated their speed at 75 mph and alleged they were racing.
Both drivers allegedly went through a red light at East Main and Aquidneck avenues, where a Sport Utility Vehicle, coming from Aquidneck Avenue, just missed hitting the bike.
