U.S. Postal Service

Regular deliveries expected.  Postal officials are reminding the public to keep all steps and sidewalks clear of snow and ice, so letter carriers can make their deliveries safely.  Is your mailbox plowed in with snow? The town can help. Click here for instructions. 

Trash and Recycling

There will be no trash and recycling collection on Monday, Feb. 11 and there will be a one day delay for the remained of the week to allow for snow clean up.

Forecast for Rain

It's going to get messy, according to the National Weather Service: 

  • Rain and patchy fog expected Monday afternoon. High near 45. South wind 14 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
  • Tonight showers likely, mainly before midnight. Patchy fog before 11 p.m. Otherwise, cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 37. West wind 9 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

RIPTA

RIPTA back in service on Monday. Park & Rides plowed, but some spaces may be blocked by plowed snow.

School Closings

  • Middletown Public Schools cancelled classes Monday morning.  On Sunday night, the district classes would be held, which had some parents concerned.  Click here to read the comments.

  • East Bay MET School closed
  • University of Rhode Island closed
  • CCRI closed
  • Salve Regia Closed

Power Outages
Most Middletown customers that lost power have been restored, said National Grid.

Plowing
On Sunday, there were 16 plows and five loaders currently working to clear the roads.  "We are in good shape," said Town Administrator Shawn Brown. "The residents have been very patient and understanding of the situation and we are thankful for that."  How does your street look?  Tell us in the comments.
