Two Middletown Students Receive Nomination to Attend United States Service Academies

Two Middletown students were chosen by U.S. Congressman David N. Cicilline, from a pool of high school seniors across the state for nominations to a United States Service Academy.  Cicilline made four nominations total.

Chase Martin of Middletown received a principal nomination to attend the United States Military Academy.  Lilly Moy, a senior at Middletown High School, received a principal nomination to attend the United States Naval Academy.

On Wednesday, Jan. 30, Cicilline welcomed his principal nominees for the United States Service Academies and their families for a reception in his Pawtucket Congressional Office.  

“I am proud to nominate such bright, determined, and passionate young people to attend the United States Service Academies this fall, said Cicilline. "I am confident that each of this year’s nominees will find success at the Service Academy of their choice.”  

The other two Rhode Island seniors to receive a principal nomination were Alexander Holloway of Newport and Nicholas Forti of North Smithfield. 

“I am pleased that I was able to get to know each of these candidates," said the Congressman.  "It is inspiring to meet young people who are so committed to a goal and determined to succeed.  Attending a Service Academy is a tremendous honor and responsibility, and I am confident that each of these students will find success serving our country and will make all Rhode Islanders proud.”

Students who receive Principal Nominations must also complete the minimum requirements set by each academy to be accepted to the respective school. Final decisions on enrollment will be made later this year.
