5 THINGS: Government, Writing and Leif Erikson

It's Leif Erikson Day! Plus, there are some government meetings.

Here are the (more than) Five Things for Tuesday, October 9, 2012:

“Tact is the ability to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trop.” – Winston Churchill. Here are today’s government meetings:

  • The South Kingstown Town Council meets at 7:30 p.m. at town hall, with a work session beginning at 6:45 p.m.
  • The South Kingstown School Committee meets at 7 p.m. in the South Kingstown High School library.
  • The Narragansett Tax Assessment Board of Review meets at 9:30 a.m. at town hall.
  • The Narragansett Historic District Commission meets at 6 p.m. in the large boardroom of town hall.
  • The Galilee Advisory Committee meets at 7 p.m. at town hall.

Mmm, fresh produce. The Marina Park farmers’ market is at 2 p.m.

Learn to right gooder. There is a five-week writing workshop with professor Nancy Shuster at Peace Dale Library at 2 p.m. (Obviously, it’s one class per week, not five weeks in one day in Quantum Leap fashion.)

Oh no! Maybe there seriously aren’t that many events today, given that it’s Leif Erikson Day. As a result, our events calendar for today is a bit barren. If you’re having an event, please let us know in the comments. Also, make sure it isn’t left out in the future – Submit it via this link (as long as you’re logged into your Patch account).

I guess he’s kind of a big deal to us. On this day in 1635, Roger Williams was banished from the Massachusetts Bay Colony.

Quantum Leap is awesome – that’s all. Happy 57th birthday to Scott Bakula!
