Another Ozone Alert For Saturday: RI Health

The state says ozone will reach unhealthy levels on Saturday.

NARRAGANSETT, RI—Ozone levels on Saturday will be unhealthy, the state Department of Environmental Management says. So DEM is issuing an air quality alert. The alert is statewide. The reason is due to "a stagnant air mass, ample periods of sunshine, and favorable flows" of wind. The ozone will reach unhealthy levels "during the afternoon and into the evening," the state said.
According to the state health department, moderate to high ozone levels can cause respiratory problems. Children, the elderly and people with respiratory diseases are especially at risk.
