Five Things, August 1: Prescription Drop Box, Honky Tonk and More
Today is Thursday, August 1, 2013 and here are five things to know today.

Honky Tonk at The Towers: Head down to The Towers (35 Ocean Rd., Narragansett) tonight for an evening of music by the Honky Tonk Knights from 7-10 p.m.! Formed as an acoustic trio in May of 2009, The Honky Tonk Knights have been playing multiple shows each week, digging deep into old country jems, 50s rockabilly, the Bakersfield sound and jump blues. Band members are known to switch it up for performances, playing as an acoustic trio, electric trio or four piece. $10 at the door; kids 9 and under get in free.
Botanical Garden Tour:Â From 5-6 p.m. this evening and every Tuesday through September, a guided tour of the URI Botanical Gardens and Horridge Conservatory will be offered by the University. Take a stroll through the garden with Head Gardener Gabrielle Torphy and Brian Maynard, Professor of Horticulture. Participants will meet at 5 p.m. at the Outreach Center Gazebo (3 East Alumni Ave., Kingston). Suggested donation is $5, children under 14 are free.
Plan Ahead - Fun at Meadowbrook: From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, August 2, the management, staff and community of Meadowbrook I & II Apartments (1 Meadowbrook Way, SK), will come together for a day of fun to celebrate summer and give the kids one last party before they return to school. Enjoy hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, soda and cookies, as well as a bounce house and visits from the SK Police and Fire departments to show off their emergency vehicles. Donations of school supplies, backpacks, git certificates, bike helmets and even children's bikes are requested from the community for a raffle drawing at the event.
