Five Things, July 31: Gansett Tax Bills Due, 'Despicable Me' and More

Today is Wednesday, July 31, 2013 and here are five things to know today.


Narragansett Tax Bills: As a reminder, first quarter Real Estate, Motor Vehicle, and Tangible tax bills are due no later than today, July 31, 2013. Also, the yearly 2013 Sewer Assessment bills are also due no later than July 31. For more information, contact the Narragansett Tax Collectors Office at (401) 782.0628.

SK Public Office Openings: The South Kingstown Town Council is seeking applications from the citizens of SK for consideration of appointment as members of the Conservation Commission, Economic Development Committee, Historic District Commission, Route 138 Reconstruction Project Area Committee, SK Partnership for Prevention Commission, SK Affordable Housing Collaborative, SK School Funds Trustees and Waterfront Advisory Committee. Movie on the Beach: Tonight at 8:15 p.m., bring the family (along with some chairs or blankets) to Narragansett Town Beach for a free showing of the hit 2010 animated film, "Despicable Me", starring the voiceover talents of Steve Carell, Jason Segel and Russell Brand.

Greenwich, Exeter, Hopkinton, Narragansett, N. Kingstown, Richmond, S. Kingstown, W. Plan Ahead - URI Pawsox Night: Join fellow URI alumni and friends on Friday, Aug. 16 for an evening of minor league baseball and an all-you-can-ear barbecue at McCoy Stadium. Tickets for the all inclusive evening are 50% cheaper than normal: only $15 each for adults and $7 for children 3-12. Children 2 and under get in free. Deadline to register for the event is Aug. 9.
