Girls' Soccer Team Honored at Council Meeting

Head coach Kathryn Mahoney, assistant coach Jennifer Sayles and the rest of the Mariners are honored by the Narragansett Town Council and School Committee for their championship win.

At its meeting Monday night, the Narragansett Town Council honored the high school's girls' soccer team for winning the Division III championship against the Middletown Islanders on Nov. 14.

Mariners head coach Kathryn Mahoney spoke briefly about the success of her team, and thanked the community for supporting the team. She also thanked her assistant coach, Jennifer Sayles, for her work this season, adding that Sayles' is sometimes overlooked when talking about the team's success.

Following Mahoney's remarks, Town Council president Glenna Hagopian presented her and the Mariners with a commendation for their championship victory.
