Narragansett Police Log: August 27 and 28, 2012

Police make two minor arrests for license violations.

Providence Man Charged With License Violation

Christopher C. Cram, 43, of 10 Ambrose St., Providence, was arrested at about 11:05 a.m. on Aug. 27 and charged with driving with a suspended license.

According to police, an officer clocked a car driven by Cram at about 56 miles per hour in a 45 mile per hour zone on Point Judith Road. A traffic stop was made near Fisherman’s Memorial Campground.

Police said a background check revealed that Cram’s license was suspended. He was arrested without incident, and warned for the speeding. He was processed and then released at about 11:40 a.m. A passenger was given permission to drive the car.

URI Student Charged With License Violation

Saral Kumar Kalanadhabhalta, 30, of 929 Massachusetts Ave., Apt. #6E, Cambridge, MA, was arrested at about 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 28 and charged with driving with a suspended license. Police said Kalanadhabhalta is a post-doctoral student at the University of Rhode Island.

According to police, an officer monitoring traffic on Point Judith Road near Wayne Street clocked a car at 65 miles per hour in a 45 mile per hour zone. A traffic stop was made on Route 1 near the Wakefield cutoff.

Police said a background check of the driver – Kalanadhabhalta – revealed that his North Carolina’s driver’s license was suspended. He was arrested without incident, processed and then released at about 7:25 p.m. He was also cited for speeding.
