South Kingstown Man Arrested for Suspended License
Christopher M. Rose, 30, of 40 Northup St., South Kingstown, was arrested at about 6:26 p.m. on Sept. 27 and charged with driving with a suspended license.
According to police, an officer monitoring traffic on Point Judith Road near Executive Realty saw Rose driving a black Chrysler Cirrus without a seat belt on. A traffic stop was made on Westmoreland Street as a result.
Police said that when asked for his license, Rose told them, “Officer I’m going to be very honest with you, my license is suspended.”
A background check confirmed that Rose’s license was suspended, and had been since February 2007 for failure to complete driver retraining. As a result, he was arrested without incident, processed at police headquarters and then released at about 7 p.m.
URI Student Cited for Suspended License
Steven A. McPhillips, 20, of 104 Dellwood Road, Cranston, was cited at about 12:46 a.m. on Sept. 27 and charged with driving with a suspended license. Police said McPhillips is a student at the University of Rhode Island.
According to police, an officer traveling behind McPhillips’ car on Point Judith Road near Palm Beach Avenue noted that his rear plate light hung too low, blocking the numbers of his plate. A traffic stop was made near Foddering Farm Road as a result.
Police said a background check of McPhillips revealed that his license was suspended on July 13 for failing to appear at a court hearing. He was cited for the violation, and a friend of McPhillips drove him and the car from the scene.
