National Merit Scholarship Winners Named

Eight Rhode Islanders have won the $2,500 scholarships.

Eight Rhode Islanders are National Merit $2500 Scholarship winners. They were chosen "by a committee of college admissions officers and high

school counselors," the scholarship corporation said, based on their school record, "scores from two standardized tests; contributions and leadership in school and community activities; an essay written by the Finalist; and a recommendation written by a high
school official."
