Scarborough Beaches Closed For High Bacteria Levels

Water samples from both the north and south beaches had high concentrations of bacteria, the Rhode Island Department of Health said.

NARRAGANSETT, RI — Both Scarborough beaches in Narragansett were closed for high bacteria levels by the Rhode Island Department of Health Tuesday evening.

Two other Rhode Island beaches remain closed at this time: the Kent County YMCA Lower Pond in Warwick and Irons Homestead Beach in Chepachet.

The department will continue to monitor water quality at Rhode Island beaches until Labor Day. For the latest beach closure information, visit RIDOH's website or call the prerecorded line at 401-222-2751.
