SK Man Charged With Cocaine Possession
South Kingstown police have charged Samuel R. Cummer, 21, with felony cocaine possession.

Samuel R. Cummer, 21, of 179 Hunt Ave., South Kingstown, was arrested at about 11:25 a.m. on Sept. 6 and charged with possession of cocaine, a felony.
According to police, they executed a search warrant at Cummer’s home on Sept. 6. The search revealed a suitcase on Cummer’s bedroom floor, and police said a small baggie of white powder was hidden in the suitcase.

Police said that when asked about the powder, Cummer told them that he had forgotten about it, because it was “bad [weak] stuff.”
According to police, the substance field tested positive as cocaine. Cummer was processed at headquarters and then released at about 4:30 p.m. He is scheduled for felony screening at Fourth Division District Court on Oct. 16.

According to online records, Cummer has three previous arrests.
- In July 2012, Cummer pleaded no contest to a Charlestown police charge of driving with a suspended license. He was ordered to pay a fine.
- In May 2011, a South Kingstown police charge of possession of marijuana, subsequent offense, was dismissed. Cummer completed a diversion program.
- In August 2010, Cummer pleaded no contest to a South Kingstown police charge of possession of marijuana. He was ordered to serve seven days at the ACI, followed by 358 days probation and a 358-day suspended sentence.
