A South Kingstown man is charged with drunken driving for the second time in three months.

South Kingstown Man Charged With Drunken Driving (Again)

Donald M. Russell, 61, of 8 North Road, South Kingstown, was arrested at about 9 p.m. on Aug. 17 and charged with drunken driving. Police said a Fourth Division District Court warrant was out for his arrest for failing to appear at a court hearing related to a previous drunken driving arrest.

According to police, an officer traveling on Saugatucket Road near Broad Rock Road saw a Jeep driven by Russell swerving. A traffic stop was made on Saugatucket Road.

Police said that Russell smelled of alcohol and failed field sobriety tests. At police headquarters, he allegedly refused to submit to a chemical test. He was transferred to the ACI at about 11:15 a.m. on Aug. 18.

Russell was arrested on June 22 and charged with drunken driving after he allegedly hit a parked car at the Wakefield Mall. Russell allegedly had a blood alcohol level between .291 and .297 at the time. For details, click .

South Kingstown Man Arrested for Warrant

Lorenzo M. Smith, 27, of 5A School Lane, South Kingstown, was arrested at about 6:58 p.m. on Aug. 17. Police said a Fourth Division District Court warrant was out for Smith’s arrest.

According to police, officers were doing a building patrol behind Wakefield Elementary School. Police recognized Smith from past arrests, checked his warrant status and made an arrest without incident.

Police said Smith’s warrant was from failing to appear at a court hearing related to a drunken driving charge. He was transferred to the ACI at 9 p.m.
