West Warwick Man Arrested on Warrant

Charles Nicholson, 38, of 550 Providence St., West Warwick, was arrested at about 8:40 p.m. on Aug. 20. Police said a Third Division District Court warrant was out for his arrest for failing to appear at a court hearing for an assault charge.

According to police, an officer noted Nicholson’s car driving suspiciously on Succotash Road. The officer said that when it noticed the monitoring squad car, it braked to well below the speed limit of 40 miles per hour, and a background check revealed that the plates didn’t match the registration in the system for the car.

A traffic stop was made near Jerry Brown Farm Road. Police said the driver had a bill of sale for the car, but a background check of the passenger – Nicholson – revealed a warrant for his arrest.

Police said Nicholson was arrested without incident, processed and then released at about 11:50 p.m.
