South Kingstown police charge two people with suspended license violations.

West Kingston Woman Charged With License Violation, Possession

Tessa J. Miro, 21, of 37 Sherman Ave., West Kingston, was arrested at about 6:08 p.m. on Aug. 26 and charged with possession of marijuana and driving with a suspended license.

According to police, an officer monitoring traffic on Kingstown Road near Old Fernwood Cemetery clocked a car driven by Miro at 45 miles per hour in a 25 mile per hour zone. A traffic stop was made on Liberty Lane.

Police said that when they asked Miro for her license, she gave them a paper copy. When asked about this, Miro allegedly told police that her license had been suspended.

A background check confirmed this, and police also noted the smell of marijuana when talking to Miro. A search of her car revealed a small baggie in the center console.

Miro was arrested and transported to police headquarters. She was processed and then released at about 7:52 p.m.

Narragansett Man Charged With License Violation

William A. Andrade, 22, of 5 Hogan Ave., Narragansett, was arrested at about 4:04 p.m. on Aug. 26 and charged with driving with a suspended license.

According to police, officers responded to a motor vehicle accident on Aug. 25, and noted at the time that he had a suspended license. A search of his car also revealed several bags of marijuana.

However, because of lifesaving efforts, Andrade was transported to Rhode Island Hospital. He turned himself in on Aug. 26, presenting a medical marijuana card at the time.

Andrade was charged with driving with a suspended license, as a result. It’s unknown if additional charges for the marijuana will be added.

South Kingstown Man Arrested for Warrant

Benjamin M. Johnson, 24, of 892 Broad Rock Road, South Kingstown, was arrested at about 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 26. Police said a Sixth Division District Court warrant was out for Johnson’s arrest.

According to police, they received a 24-hour domestic assault bulletin from North Kingstown police. As a result, his home address was checked, and he was arrested without incident.

South Kingstown police said he was held at their station until North Kingstown officer picked him up later that night.
