According to police, a family member reported that Lopes had attempted to break down the door to her apartment at about 3:30 p.m. Police noted that she had a piece of glass in her hand.
Police allegedly asked her multiple times to drop the piece of glass, but she refused, and it took multiple officers to control her. Police noted that she was extremely irate, irrational and violent, and spit on the officers. She was transported to South County Hospital for observation.

According to the family member, Lopes began acting upset and breaking things when they denied letting her see her baby. Custody had been taken from Lopes, and the family member noted that Lopes appeared to be under the influence, which is why they denied her.
Because of the nature of the incident, police decided not to arrest Lopes at the time, and instead to have a well-being check performed. However, when hospital personnel informed police that Lopes was not homicidal or suicidal, she was arrested at about 7:25 p.m. Police noted that she bit and officer during processing, but no injuries were sustained.
At about 12:31 a.m. on Aug. 30, Lopes told police she was having trouble breathing. However, EMS personnel evaluated her and told police she was not having an asthma attack, and Lopes refused a ride to the hospital for treatment.
Police said that once she was out of her cell, Lopes became combative, and demanded to use the telephone to call the victims of the domestic offenses. When police refused, they said Lopes bit an officer, clamping down so hard that blood was drawn.
The officer was transported to the hospital for treatment, and received bandages, penicillin and a tetanus booster. She was able to finish her shift.
Police said that Lopes was put back into her cell, but later in the morning, she attempted to use her garments to hang herself. As a result, her clothes were taken from her. She was held for court at 9 a.m.
Wakefield Man Charged With License Violation
Joshua L. Stanton, 27, of 38 Prospect Ave., Wakefield, was arrested at about 10:38 a.m. on Aug. 29 and charged with driving with a suspended license.
According to police, an officer recognized Stanton from previous arrests, and as a result, a traffic stop was made on the Route 1 on-ramp. A background check confirmed that his license was suspended.
Police said Stanton told them he was on his way to Providence, because he was having withdrawals and needed some Percocet. A search of his car revealed one Diazepam – prescribed to Stanton – and a clean needle.
Stanton was transported to South County Hospital for treatment at about 11:21 a.m., but he refused. He was then transported to headquarters for processing and released at about 12:50 p.m.
