New York Man, Former URI Track Captain Charged With Smelly Drunken Driving

Nicholas M. Guscott, 21, of 1449 Coolidge Ave., North Baldwin, NY, was arrested at about 5:49 a.m. on Sept. 9 and charged with drunken driving.

According to police, they received a report of a grey Hyundai Sonata off the road and in a ditch on Middlebridge Road.

Police said when they approached the car, Guscott was in the passenger seat, asleep. Police said that when they asked Guscott what he was doing, he allegedly told them, “I drove down here to look for my girlfriend.” Police noted the strong smell of alcohol when talking to him.

Police said that Guscott told them his car ended up in the ditch when he tried to turn around, and when he couldn’t get the car out, he climbed into the passenger’s seat. He told police, “As drunk as I am, my girlfriend was worse.”

Police noted that when Guscott stepped out the car, he smelled strongly of feces, and there were brown stains on the back of his shorts. When asked about the smell, he told police, “I **** myself when I was drunk.”

According to police, Guscott failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. Police said that at headquarters, his blood alcohol content tested at .125 at 6:54 a.m. and .134 at 6:56 a.m.

Guscott was processed and then released at about 8:03 a.m.

According to online records, Guscott was a senior captain for the University of Rhode Island men’s track team in 2012. Guscott is still listed in the online student directory.

Arrested Again Because of That Guy – South Kingstown Man Charged With Disorderly Conduct

Timothy Edward Sherman, 41, of 395 Curtis Corner Road, South Kingstown, was arrested at about 8:55 p.m. on Sept. 9 and charged with disorderly conduct.

According to police, they received a report of an argument between two men at Tony’s Pizza. Police said that based on interviews, Sherman and a friend were at the restaurant, drinking and eating.

Police said that shortly before they arrived, a third man came to Tony’s, which agitated Sherman. He told police that several years ago, he had been sent to the ACI for assaulting that man, and on Sept. 9, he tried to entice him into a fight, according to staff at the restaurant.

According to police, there was no physical altercation. However, based on witness statements, Sherman was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. He was processed and then released at 10:05 p.m.

Peacedale Man Arrested for Warrant

Jazmond D. Reels, 22, of 105 Church St., Peacedale, was arrested at about 5:01 p.m. on Sept. 8. Police said a Fourth Division District Court warrant was out for Reels’ arrest after he did not appear at a court hearing on Sept. 5 for a South Kingstown police charge of driving with a  suspended license.

According to police, an officer familiar with Reels from previous arrests spotted him outside of PD’s Pizza. A background check confirmed that a warrant was out for his arrest.

Police said Reels was arrested without incident. He was processed and then released at about 10:35 p.m. when a friend arrived with bail money.
