South Kingstown Holding Firefighter Remembrance Ceremony

The ceremony will be held at noon on Saturday, at the South Kingstown Firefighters Memorial Square at Columbia Street and Kingstown Road.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI — South Kingstown's Union Fire District will hold its annual firefighters memorial ceremony this week.

The ceremony will be held at noon on Saturday, at the South Kingstown Firefighters Memorial Square at Columbia Street and Kingstown Road.

Firefighters from the Union and Kingston fire districts will be in attendance, as well as members of the town council, the interim town manager, local senators and representatives and Rep. Jim Langevin.

The ceremony will honor firefighters who died in the line of duty, including William E. Gray, who died in 1967, Byron H. Love, who died in 1968 and Allan P. LePage, who died in 2009. Taps will be performed by members of the South Kingstown High School band, along with an invocation by Rev. Marcel Taillon and a memorial address from retired Deputy Chief Tim Redmond. Members of the Love, LePage and Gray families will place a wreath at the memorial.

"We thank our community partners for assisting us as always, and all of our past members who continue to offer their support."
