Your Guide: Blessing of the Fleet, Seafood Festival

The Blessing of the Fleet will take place at noon on Saturday in Galilee and the Seafood Festival will run from noon to 11 p.m. in Narragansett.

Kicking off the 2013 Blessing of the Fleet weekend Friday was the annual 10-mile road race from Narragansett Pier School to The Towers, which was accompanied by the first night of everyone's favorite seafood festival!

From noon to 11 p.m. today, July 27, at Veterans Memorial Park in Narragansett (35 Ocean Road, adjacent to The Towers), the Seafood Festival will be going strong, featuring a lobster dinner, beer tent, a variety of arts and crafts and other tasty foods to fill up on! Live music will be performed Bobby Nelson from 3-5 p.m. today and Steve Smith & the Nakeds tonight. An added bonus: there is no admission fee to enter the festival!

The actual Blessing of the Fleet itself, with clergy and other local officials, will take place at noon on Saturday at Salty Brine Beach in Galilee. Hundreds of vessels participate in the Parade of Sail event each year, sailing and motoring past spectators watching from the shore.
