ALN Surveying Public on Snow Removal, Pay as You Throw, Housing

The Alliance for a Livable Newport is again asking for community feedback via a short survey.

The survey reflects quality of life issues and the results of the survey will be shared and published online.

Questions include:

How would you rate the snow removal efforts of the City of Newport? 

A front-page article in the Feb 28 issue of Newport This Week reveals that city officials are considering "pay as you throw" as part of a plan to combine Newport's garbage collection with that of Middletown. Are you in favor of "pay as you throw" for Newport?

"The average wage earner with kids cannot afford to own a home in Newport." Comments made by the Executive Director of Church Community Housing Corp. at the Newport City Council meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 27, suggest that an income between $40,000 and $60,000 is not enough for a family to buy a home in the city. What do you think? In your opinion, is this true?
