Aquidneck Land Trust Appoints New Development Director

Newport's Laura Freedman Pedrick officially started on Oct. 26.

The Aquidneck Land Trust has named a new development director.

Laura Freedman Pedrick officially started work for the nonprofit on Oct. 26 and comes to the land trust from the notable Rhode Island law firm Patridge Snow & Hahn LLP.

There, she served as marketing director since 2006 and before that, she spent 14 years at America House Communications in Newport as vice president of business development.

“Throughout her career, Laura has translated her marketing acumen to successful stints in various diverse industry settings,” ALT said in a release. “Her educational background includes an MBA in International Marketing from the Thunderbird School of International Management in Glendale, Arizona, and a BA in French from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.”

A Newport resident, Pedrick is active in the community, serving on the board of Touro Synagogue, which she had once served as president. She also sits on the Board of Governors at Newport Hospital and the Community Advisory Board of the United Way of Rhode Island.

Pedrick also served two terms on the Board of Trustees at St. George’s School and is a current member of its Religious Life Committee.

The Aquidneck Land Trust oversees 2,519.49 acres on 73 properties across the island and works to protect and reserve open spaces and its natural character.
