Brenda Bachman Resigns From Hospitality Commission
Bachman had served more than 10 years on the commission which deals with the Sister City program. She had taken trips to Europe and Japan.

NEWPORT, RI—Brenda Bachman is calling it quits as a member of the Newport Hospitality Commission. The commission helps city officials operate the Sister City program and also organizes the councilors' trips to Europe and Japan. Her Sept. 21 letter of resignation, addressed to Mayor Harry Winthrop, was listed on Wednesday's City Council agenda. The agenda also indicated her letter was accepted with regret. Here is what she said.
Dear Mayor Winthrop,
After thoughtful consideration, I am writing to resign from the Newport Hospitality Commission effective immediately. It has been an honor to work on behalf of the Sister City program for over a decade. I am grateful for the opportunities to visit our Sister Cities and for the deep friendships that I have gained.
