NEWPORT, RI — The Newport Daily News is being sold to Gate House, the same company that now owns the Providence Journal. The sale is to be finalized Nov. 1. Gate House also owns the Portsmouth (N.H.) Herald, the Worcester Telegram & Gazette, and community newspapers.
