Downtown Providence Murder: Araya Brinkley Pleads Guilty to Stabbing Death of Troy Henderson

Brinkley changed his plea yesterday just as the trial was about to start, according to Atty. Gen. Peter Kilmartin's office.

PROVIDENCE, RI — The suspect accused of stabbing Troy Henderson to death outside the 7-11 in Downtown Providence will be sentenced for the murder on Nov. 27, according to Atty. Gen. Peter Kilmartin. On Monday, Kilmartin announced that Araya Brinkley, 54, of Providence, changed his plea to guilty just before his trial was to start in Providence Superior Court. He was being tried for a stabbing on May 23, 2015. Around 2:30 a.m., Brinkley and Henderson, 41, had been quarrelling inside the 7-11 store near Kennedy Plaza. They went outside, and Brinkley stabbed Henderson 15 times, fled on a bicycle but was caught by Providence police.
