Expect Delays This Weekend: Jamestown Bridge To Newport Bridge
The state Turnpike and Bridge Authority is alerting drivers to construction this weekend along the Route 138 corridor between the bridges.

NEWPORT, RI — The state Turnpike and Bridge Authority is alerting drivers to upcoming construction, starting this weekend, along the Route 138 corridor between the bridges. One lane will be closed temporarily in both directions during the work, RITBA said. Weather permitting, the lane closures are set to start Friday night, March 23 and continue through the early morning of Monday, March 26. The project is supposed to last for three weekends. So similar lane closings and delays are planned for the weekends of March 31 and April 7.
The project, which began March 5 and is supposed to be over by June 15, "includes milling and paving of the Route 138 roadway, deck repairs to the North Main Road Bridge, drainage repairs and other miscellaneous repairs," RITBA said.
