Fatal Newport Fire: Under Investigation
A fire at 4:30 a.m. Friday at 66 Girard Ave. has claimed the life of an elderly man, police said.
NEWPORT, RI — A fire at 4:33 a.m. Friday has claimed the life of an elderly man, police said. According to the authorities, the 70-year-old was found unresponsive inside his home at Bridgeview Condos, 66 Girard Ave.. He was taken to Newport Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The fire, which was confined to unit #304, is still under investigation.
