Fire At Newport Condo Displaces 5 People: Report

Newport firefighters and other local crews extinguish the fire before it could spread to other homes in the complex on Grafton Street.

NEWPORT, RI — Five people were reportedly displaced after a condo building at a complex in Newport caught fire on Thursday morning.

Firefighters were called to the two-story home on Grafton Street near Thames Street around 4:30 a.m. Fire officials struck a third alarm and received mutual aid from several local communities.

The fire was extinguished before it could spread to other units. No injuries were reported, but fire officials told WPRI 12 two families were displaced.
