Five Rogers Musicians Make All-State Ensembles
It takes talent to make it through auditions to earn All-State honors.
Five Rogers High School students have been named All-State musicians after auditioning for the exclusive honor last month at Moses Brown in Providence.
- Dory Cawley - Senior All-State Band
- Abby Wasylean- Senior All-State Mixed Chorus
- Owen Martin - Senior All-State Orchestra
- Mathilde Tash - Senior All-State Women’s Chorus
- Michael Garvey (5th Ranked in the State for cello) - Senior All-State Orchestra
Newport Public Schools announced that the five students had made it into the ensembles along with offering congrats.
The All-State ensembles are run by the Rhode Island Music Education Association, which represents state music educators at all levels.

The nonprofit is the second of its kind ever to form in the United States. It was founded in 1917.
The ensembles are led by prominent conductors and musicians and student musicians get the chance to hone their skills, attend workshops and perform for the public.
