Girl Attacks Case Worker with Stick, Throws Spit and Rock at Police
An African American police officer endured racial epithets and being spat on as Newport police tracked down a missing wayward teen Sunday.
A Newport police officer endured racial slurs and being spat on by a white 15-year-old girl who was arrested for felony assault after she attacked a group home case worker with a large stick on Sunday.
The girl is also facing charges of simple assault and resisting arrest after she fought with police as they tried to take her into custody behind the Walmart anchor store at RK Newport Towne Center.
Police said the girl was reported missing after the alleged assault at around 1:20 p.m. and police found her by Walmart a short time later.

According to a police report, when the girl saw police she immediately began swearing. She then picked up a large rock and threw it in the officers’ direction, missing police but striking the front of a police cruiser.
The girl was eventually restrained after a struggle and spat in the face of the African American officer as she was led to the cruiser.

Once inside the car, the girl reportedly kicked the doors and threatened to cause more damage along with calling using racial epithets.
“My family owns you,” she told the officer, according to the report. “When you take these handcuffs off, I will [expletive] you up.”
Police said that during the attack on the case worker, the girl struck the victim with the large stick five times in the head.
The girl was also charged with vandalism for hitting the police car with the rock, causing minor damage.
The case will be adjudicated in Family Court.
