Largest Working Gingerbread Lighthouse in NE Now Open in Newport
The 16-foot tall, gluten-free lighthouse will shine at the Newport Visitor Information Center through the holiday.
Along with shopping, dining and interesting sights to see during the holiday season, Newport boasts being home to the largest gingerbread lighthouse in New England.
The 16-foot tall, gluten-free lighthouse has a working light and is on display at the Newport Visitor Information Center now until Jan. 1.
Hours are Sat. through Thurs., 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Santa will be visiting on Dec. 4 from 1 to 5 p.m.
All visitors are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to fill a sleigh for local food pantries.

The lighthouse was built by the culinary team at the Newport Marriott, which devoted more than 100 hours of baking, building and decorating.
It contains 1,600 bricks, 2,400 piece of candy and a whopping 20 gallons of icing.
The Newport Visitor Center, decked out for the holiday season, is located at 23 America’s Cup Avenue, Newport, RI. Complimentary parking is available in the garage at the Visitor Information Center, courtesy of the City of Newport.
