Man Charged for Exposing Himself at Newport Cumberland Farms

Police said the 30-year-old Middletown man propositioned a store clerk before exposing himself.

NEWPORT, RI—A 30-year-old Middletown man was charged with indecent exposure and procurement of sexual conduct for a fee for allegedly exposing himself at the Cumberland Farms on Broadway early Monday morning.

Juan Carlos Hernandez, of 8 Woolsey Road, Middletown, allegedly exposed himself to a female store clerk and told her he’d pay her if she “joined him in the bathroom,” according to a police report.

Police said the store clerk called police after Hernandez had left the store.

The clerk said that Hernandez walked into the store at around 2:15 a.m. and seemed to be drunk before his proposition.

The clerk recognized Hernandez because the two used to work together at McDonalds, police said.

The clerk told police that Hernandez was the only person in the store when he approached her and said “one hundred dollar for ten minutes.”

When the clerk refused, Hernandez reportedly unzipped his pants, exposed himself and then came behind the counter.

The clerk ran to the front door and told Hernandez to leave. He then fled on foot on Broadway.

Police began searching the area for Hernandez and while they were looking, the clerk called police again. She said said a customer just came to the store and reported having a similar experience with Hernandez inside the Domino’s Pizza on West Main Road in Middletown.

Police eventually found Hernandez in the area and he was taken into custody without incident.

Police said Hernandez was held overnight for arraignment on Monday
