Man Cited for Refusing to Pay for Taxi Ride to Hospital
Police said the 56-year-old Newport man's credit card was declined and refused to pay another way.

A 56-year-old Newport man will appear in city Municipal Court on Dec. 7 after he allegedly refused to pay a $5.80 cab fare after getting a ride to Newport Hospital Sunday night.
Police said Steven Bruce Cox, of 19 Chapel St., Apt. 514, took a taxi to the hospital at around 6:15 p.m. and his credit card was declined when the driver tried to collect payment for the fare.
The driver told police that Cox “refused to provide another means of payment,” according to a police report and Cox later refused to cooperate with police who approached him inside the emergency room waiting room.
