Newport Girl Arrested after Classroom Disruption

Police said the girl was charged with disorderly conduct after throwing various objects around a classroom at Rogers High School on Tuesday.

NEWPORT, RI—Newport police charged a 17-year-old girl with disorderly conduct on Tuesday after she allegedly caused a classroom disruption at Rogers High School.

According to a police report, the girl got into a disagreement with another girl and refused to leave a classroom. She then began yelling and screaming and “throwing various objects around the room.”

The girl was eventually escorted out of the room and a responding officer took her into custody without incident. She was later released to the custody of her mother.

School officials told police that the girl would be suspended through March 1 and the criminal charge would be adjudicated in family court.
