Newport residents can drop off difficult to recycle items at Easton's Beach from 8 a.m. to noon.

NEWPORT, RI — Spring cleaning time has arrived, and with it comes the difficulties in properly disposing of certain household items. To help residents, Newport is holding a recycling day at Easton's Beach on April 23 from 8 a.m. to noon.

The recycling event is just one day after the 52nd anniversary of Earth Day. The city is holding the event in an effort to keep recyclable items that are difficult to dispose of out of the landfill. This includes rigid plastics, scrap metal, cooking oil, e-waste, clothing and more. No other citywide recycling events will be held this year, and it will only be open to Newport residents.
