Newport Man Caught With Child Pornography, Police Say
Ryan McElwee, 23, was arraigned at Second Division District Court and was charged with possession of child pornography.
NEWPORT, RI — A Newport man was arrested Thursday after police said he was caught with child pornography.
Ryan McElwee, 23, was arraigned at Second Division District Court and was charged with possession of child pornography.
Over the past several months, the Newport Police Department and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Homeland investigated a man they suspected was downloading child pornography on the internet.

On Thursday, authorities searched McElwee's home and arrested him. He was released on $5,000 bail.
