Newport Police: Holiday Package Deliveries
Police are asking residents to lock their cars and be aware about thieves stealing holiday package deliveries.
NEWPORT, RI—Police are warning residents that thieves are out and looking for holiday deliveries to steal. They're asking everyone to lock their cars, take some sensible precautions if they're expecting deliveries and keep an eye out for the neighborhood. Here is the press release.
The holiday shopping season is now upon us. Remember to keep your vehicles locked at all times and important items stored out of sight. If you have packages shipped to your residence, sign up for delivery alerts so you know when your package arrives. If possible, require a signature when the package is delivered. This will ensure the package will not be left unattended at your residence.
This is a community effort. Work together with your neighbors to notify them if packages are scheduled for delivery. If you observe any suspicious activity, call the Newport Police Department at 401-847-1302.
