Newport Police Log: Assault, Warrant Arrests
The following is based on reports from the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Joseph R. Cote, 41, and Jerry A. Fisher, 29, both of 15 Meeting St., Newport, were arrested around 9:32 p.m. on Sunday, March 3 for assault charges. Police responded to the back of City Hall for a reported of an injured man.
When they arrived, the victim was on the ground and bleeding from his face. Newport Fire Department personnel arrived to assist him.
A witness told police Cote had punched the victim while Fisher kicked him repeatedly.

Cote and Fisher were located and placed under arrest. Cote had fresh blood on his sneakers and Fisher admitted to fighting with the victim, reports said.
The victim sustained a broken nose during the fight.

Warrant arrest
William C. Zeigler III, 28, was arrested around 11:35 a.m. for two active warrants for failure to appear in court.
