Newport Police Log: Recent Arrests

NEWPORT, RI—Here are recent arrests in Newport. Information comes from the police log.

Feb. 27

Angel Merced, 42, of Portsmouth, was arrested at 8:30 p.m. at the Newport Hospital Emergency Room. A staff member accused Merced, who was a patient, of choking him. Merced was charged with Simple Assault and Battery.

Feb. 28

Alexander Quiles Robles, 30, of Newport, was arrested at 6:44 p.m. on a warrant for an incident originally reported Feb. 7. Police allege he hit his pregnant girl friend at Festival Field and stole $50 and car keys. He is being charged with a felony Domestic Simple Assault and Battery, third offense; and two misdemeanors, Domestic Disorderly Conduct and Larceny under $1,500.
