Newport Recruiting New Firefighters

NEWPORT, RI—The Newport Fire Department is looking for a few new recruits to join the ranks.

The application period begins March 14 and will run through April 1.

Applicants must be 18, have a high school diploma or GED and be ready and able to obtain the required certifications .

Starting pay for a firefighters, as of July 1 of 2015, is $36,488.91 per year.

To qualify, applicants will be required to pass a written test, background checks, an interview the fire chief and senior staff, a psychological and physical examination (including a drug screen) and an oral board interview.

Applications can be picked up at City Hall, 43 Broadway, or downloaded from the city's web site HERE.

Be sure to have a copy of your birth certificate, diploma or GED and driver's license to be submitted with your application.

Applications must be received no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, April 1.
