NJ Man Catches Record-Breaking Fish In Newport Waters
The record-breaking catch for a tautog came in at 33 inches long and 22 pounds, state officials say.

NEWPORT, RI — A New Jersey man broke a Rhode Island fishing record earlier this week in Newport, according to the RI Department of Environmental Management (DEM).
DEM officials said Vincent Simms on Monday caught the biggest tautog ever recorded in the Ocean State. The fish measured 33 inches and was 22 pounds, DEM officials said. The previous record in Rhode Island was 21 pounds, which was also caught by a New Jersey man in November 2021.
DEM officials said Quaker Lane Bait and Tackle in North Kingstown certified the record.
